Upcoming AT&T Upgrades

AT&T has a project planned to upgrade their existing facilities in PINE FOREST COUNTRY CLUB COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION, INC.   The work will be to convert their existing outdated facilities with new state of the art communications facilities allowing for higher internet speeds and more features for residents.  No existing service will be disturbed.  The project will requires digging and boring so it is important that the community and board be informed of the upgrade as a courtesy.     All restoration is guaranteed by AT&T.  Attached is a letter to the community with a list of frequently asked questions I believe may be helpful to explain what AT&T will be doing along with a power point showing what it looks like when they are doing the upgrade in pictures and methods of placement.  Door hangers will be placed on residents doors prior to construction.  The door hanger will have the name and contact information for the construction company should any restoration be required.

The project is scheduled to start approximately over the next 2-4 months, possibly sooner.  AT&T will be ordering locates and placing door hangers prior to construction.  Please contact me with any questions you may have.  I will be happy to assist with any concerns you have during the project.

Thank you,

Jennifer Lewer

Unifrax / Lauscha Fiber Update (12/21/2017)

On 12/21/17, the HOA received the following email from Jay Fuller at Unifrax.

Summerville Neighbors,

Unifrax again reiterates that we understand the community’s concerns with our Summerville, SC facility, and recognizes that, although we have been making changes and working toward a better long-term solution, we have been remiss in our interaction with the community during this process.  To improve the information flow to the community, Unifrax committed to providing more regular updates and community interaction.Since the November community meeting, Unifrax has continued to move forward with the permitting requirements for the equipment changes so that we can get that equipment installed as soon as possible.  The anticipated costs of those improvements will now be in excess of $3.1 million.  In the meantime, Unifrax is not simply waiting for these improvements, but instead continues to upgrade the current system (even though most of this will soon be replaced) to resolve the risk of releases in the interim.

We also wanted the community to be aware that, beginning the first week of January, there will be some air monitoring equipment and GHD personnel in your community.  GHD is the consulting firm that Unifrax has hired to help evaluate air quality concerns in the community.  Since we are dealing with glass fibers, rather than the types of pollutants typically associated with manufacturing operations, it did take a little time to determine how best to evaluate air quality.  We expect this work to continue through January.  If during this time you have any issues or concerns with the workers that will be operating around the community, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Although we do not expect there to be air quality issues from the past releases that the community has had to deal with or issues with the facility’s ongoing operations, we understand the community’s concerns and the desire for sampling work to verify this.  Once this work is completed, Unifrax plans to hold another community meeting to further update the community (most likely early February).

In the meantime, Unifrax continues to welcome your involvement, so if you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out to us.  We can be reached at 843.376.2121  Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to address this issue.

Sincerely,

Jay Fuller

Curbside Single-Stream Recycling Begins 1/1/2017

Curbside Single-Stream Recycling will begin on January 1, 2017. Waste Pro is delivering 95-gallon single-stream recycling cans to homes in our neighborhood. Please immediately place your recycling container out of view. The covenants that govern the placement of trash cans also apply to recycling containers.

“Each lot owner shall provide a screened area not generally visible from the road to serve as a service yard and an area for the storage of garbage receptacles and fuel tanks or similar storage receptacles….”

Single-Stream Recycling will allow you to mix the following recyclable items: paper, aluminum and tin cans, plastic bottles, jugs and containers, aerosol and empty dry paint cans, cardboard (broken down and no larger than three feet) and glass.

The following non-recyclable items should not be placed in the recycling cans: food, styrofoam, rubber bands, plastic bags, soiled paper, tissue paper, paper towels or wax-coated paper.
